ONE of Doncaster's hospitals has seen the environment improve for patients over the last year, according to health bosses.
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust carries twice-yearly Patient Environment Action Team - or PEAT - assessments across its hospitals, to measure the quality of the patients' environment, food, and privacy and dignity on each of it
s site.
The Mexborough Montagu, Tickhill Road, and Bassetlaw hospitals are rated as "good" in all the ratings. For Tickhill Road Hospital, in Balby, and Bassetlaw Hospital, in Worksop, the marks represented an improvement from "acceptable" last year.
But the Doncaster Royal Infirmary remained static on "acceptable" for its environment, missing out on "good" by one percentage point. It was marked "good" for food and privacy and dignity.
Trust communications manager Hazel Brand said: "The scores we have received are positive and encouraging.
"We strive for continuous year-on-year improvement, drawing on previous PEAT scores to identify problem areas and working on action plans to help make improvements.
"It is a multi-disciplinary effort, which involves different groups from across the trust, including an infection prevention and control team and a patient environment group."
