THE FANS painted the town red and white again as Doncaster Rovers' looked forward to life in the Championship at their annual Open Day at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Several thousand fans and hundreds of families dropped in at the £32million complex eager to see their heroes during the event.

"The event is getting bigger and more popular with supporters every year," said chief executive Dave Morris.

One of the most popular features of the day was a 45 minute training session by the Rovers first team squad on the pitch. The players returned to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans.

"It was good of the players to come in today because they have been away at an RAF camp for most of the week and, of course, they played Scunthorpe in a friendly yesterday."

The club's dance troupe, The Vikettes, also treated the people in the stadium to a couple of routines.

A number of fans took advantage of specially discounted rates on the day to purchase framed and, in some cases, autographed, pictures of the club's 1-0 League One promotion play-off win over Leeds United at Wembley.

Dozens of fans also forked out £10 to have a framed photograph with the play-off trophy.

Doncaster Athletic Club had a stand displaying trophies won since moving to the Keepmoat complex and a DVD footage of members in action.

Doncaster Rovers Belles manager John Buckley - a former Rovers' favourite, operated a speed kick test which proved popular with young and old alike.

Free samples from a chocolate fountain in the Premier Club bar proved popular.

There were lots of attractions for the younger visitors with face painting and a circus workshop in additon to various rides and a fun bus.
