THE fashionistas of Doncaster gathered for their annual get- together and got their wallets out again to raise a massive sum for a cancer charity.
At least £10,000 was raised for Cancer Research at the 17th Robinson's of Bawtry fashion show and more money is still coming in.

The event was once again organised by boutique owner Tony Robinson, who initiated the charity shows at the neighbouring China Rose restaurant after the death of his first wife Jeanette from cancer.

In total since starting the shows he and his staff have raised £166,000 for the charity.

As well as models parading the clothes which are on sale at his South Parade shop, the 200 guests enjoyed a Chinese meal and made bids for attractive auction lots such as a Caribbean cruise and ski holiday in the Alps.

Tony said: "It was absolutely superb and went ever so well.

"With the current economic climate and people not having so much spare cash I am pleased we've managed to raise so much.

"When people come to this event it reaffirms my faith in society because everyone is so kind and generous. It's nice to do it because so much of what we give is used for research into cancer."
