A MASSIVE 200 foot crane has been installed on the site of the first new hotel to be built in Doncaster for 30 years.
Formerly planned as a Tulip Hotel, the new building will now be a 140-room Premier Inn, with a Brewer's Fayre bar below.

Lloyd Nicholson, of the Lazarus Group whose Urban i subsidiary is building the hotel, said: "Construction on the site started two months ago but having the crane move in is a significant step forward - and it's pretty impressive.

"Work is scheduled to be finished by May 2009 - as far as I'm aware it's the first new hotel in the town centre for 30 years, perhaps even longer.

"It's obviously great for Doncaster and our company is very happy to be involved with the project."

Hospitality company Whitbreads has taken over the Tulip Hotel chain.
