THREE colleagues from a Doncaster law firm swapped their suits for rucksacks and walking boots to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for charity in adverse weather conditions.
Kay Marriott, James Sutherland and Shrene Critchlow, based at Atherton Godfrey's chambers in Hallgate, took the challenge to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

It took them about 12 hours to complete the route which starts and ends in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and visiting the three highest peaks in Yorkshire - Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Although Kay, James and Shrene all have some experience of walking or running over distance, it was the first time in years any of them had attempted a walk as long as this. Shrene completed the Great North Run last year for charity and James completed the Scottish Munros some years ago.

"The weather was absolutely awful and we were all very tired at the end of the walk, but it was well-worth it," said Kay.

"The cause we were walking for was reason enough, but the views from the mountains are fantastic and really make it worth the effort."

The trio raised over £700 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, with the help of sponsorship from family and friends and colleagues at Atherton Godfrey, but it was hard earned, with thunderstorms on the day so bad that many others chose not to continue.
