DONCASTER Rovers defender Matt Mills is facing a race against time to play against former club Southampton on Saturday at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The centre-back came off with a thigh injury seven minutes after the restart in Saturday's 4-1 Championship defeat at Bristol City.

Mills suffered the thigh injury in the opening minutes and had treatment in the dressing room at the break.

Mills started his career at St Mary's and spent spells on loan at Coventry and Bournemouth before being sold to Man-chester City.

He spent most of last season on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium before making the move permanent in a club-record £300,000 deal.

If Mills is ruled out then skipper Adam Lockwood, who took over at Ashton Gate, is likely to start his first game of the season.

The full Rovers squad attended the funeral of first-team coach-driver John Dodsworth, who collapased and died ten days ago, aged 67, yesterday at Boroughbridge.

Training was cancelled for the day as a mark of respect.

Rovers managemement and backroom staff also attended the funeral along with chief executive Dave Morris and managing director Stuart Highfield.

Ex-Rovers boss Dave Penney and former players including Steve Foster, Tim Ryan and Steve and Neil Roberts were also there.

Former Rovers striker Mark McCammon is to appeal against his red card at Aldershot on Saturday.

His club, Gillingham, have launched the appeal after the big frontman was sent off for serious foul play for his aerial challenge on Aldershot goalkeeper Nikki Bull.
