DONCASTER Rugby League Club full-back Zeb Luisi (neck) remains touch and go ahead Sunday's National League Two promotion play-off final against Oldham at Warrington.
As well as having treatment on training nights at the Keepmoat Stadium - he had a session of acupuncture last night - the New Zealander had also been travelling over to physio Kevin Farley's clinic in Leeds.
"Zeb is getting better every day, but his neck is still sore and we probably won't know if he will be fit to play until possibly Saturday," said Farley last night.
"Zeb is a tough lad and will want to play, especially with it being a final. But in making a decision we always have to take a player's future well-being into consideration."
"Zeb said he felt a click in his neck when being tackled in the semi-final at Boundary Park and that is why he was carried off on a stretcher.
"But fortunately nothing serious showed up on the X-ray and he's just got a soft-tissue injury. It is a similar sort of injury as someone who is involved in a car crash and suffers whiplash.
Said Luisi:"The neck is feeling better every day; it is just stiff after I've been asleep. I would say that I am about 50-50 at the moment. I''ll have a better idea of my chances later in the week when I do bit of physical work.
"I obviously want to play on Sunday with it being a final, but I won't risk it if I am not fit."
Were the former Super League star to be ruled out it would be a big setback for the Dons' hopes of regaining their place back in League One just 12 months after being relegated.
Luisi has been in outstanding form since switching to full-back in the closing weeks of the season.
"Full-back is my preferred position; I played there for Harlequins last season," said Luisi. "You get the chance to join the line whenever you want and you can make a big impact if you get your timing right. I have been pleased how things have been going in recent weeks."
