MOORENDS-Thorne Marauders came crashing down to Earth, losing 22-20 away to derby rivals Upton after their previous weekend stroll in the Yorkshire Amateur RL Premier Division.
Moorends took an early lead when Mark Roach ran the ball on the last tackle, floating out a long pass to Wayne Green, who ummied his way over in the corner to make it 4-0.
Green struck again when he intercepted a pass and ran 90m to present Ryan Rafferty with simple conversion.
Moorends had two chances ruled out by the referee, who said players were off-side from high kicks, before Upton's Froggett crossed in the corner from a short ball from Jaques.
With Moorends giving the ball away cheaply, and being heavily penalised, Adam Hinchcliffe forced himself over in the corner. Beal converted to level the scores at 10-10.
The introduction of Karl Mills and Shaun Carver brought dividends for the Marauders and they set up the chance for Roach to ghost over to secure his side a 14-10 interval lead.
Both sides came out firing on all cylinders. Green spotted the long pass from Upton's stand-off Beal and plucked the ball out of the air to race in from 90m. Rafferty again converted to make it 20-10.
The game deteriorated and both sides had players sent to the sin bin. Upton took advantage of the 11-a-side game with speedster Froggett going over in the corner on 66 minutes, Beal landed a terrific touch line conversion to close the gap to four points.
Froggett was in again three minutes later when the referee awarded a try even though it looked like Jason Blanchard had forced him into touch. Beal again landed the long kick to put his side ahead.
Marauders were denied two tries in the last 10 minutes.
