THIS is bartender James Hill and the rum cocktail which has given him a ticket to Venezuela this December.
Its won him the northern heat in the World Class bartending competition - and a visit to the South American distillery - and next year he goes on to compete in the British and world finals.

"It's a nice post dinner drink," says James, aged 27, one of the directors of Menzel's bar on Ecclesall Road.

Mixologist James had to make and shake three original cocktails to win the competition.

This one, the Ron Burgundy, is made up of 50ml of Venezuelan Pampero Anniversario rum, 5ml of maple syrup, a dash of Peychaud Bitters and 10ml of Punt e Mas, an Italian vermouth.

"If you win you have to put the cocktail on your list. It sells at £5.50, pretty much the going rate these days," says James.
