BEFORE pop legend Dave Berry goes on stage in Belfast tonight he'll spend an hour in his dressing room doing "steps" for charity.
He'll be at it every night on the current leg of the Solid Silver Sixties tour – including the London Palladium this Sunday – in aid of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice's Golden Mile Challenge.
"I'll be putting a collection box backstage so artistes and staff can make a donation," says Dave, from Dronfield.
What do you think? Post your comments below. He got the idea when neighbour Gillian Scotford asked him to join in her own Tom's Two Million Golden Step Challenge in July, when 11 women will walk 35 miles, or two million steps, in aid of the hospice. Gillian's son Tom, aged 12, who is severely brain damaged, will be one of the hospice's first residents when it opens, possibly in September.
Dave is away then but is helping out with the Golden Mile Challenge.
"I think it's fantastic that Dave is highlighting the appeal – for people to collect £100 in 100 days," says Gillian.
The hospice is still looking for more collectors to take the challenge. Visit
