Dad's the way to do it with Gary's hole lot of fun

GARY Wilmot, hoofing and singing it up admirably as Kipps at the Lyceum, has a closer link with his audience than many realise.
Particularly if they are over 40. It was his Dad Harry who sang the words "I am a mole and I live in a hole" in the Southlanders' minor hit of 1958.

And it became a firm fixture on almost every edition of radio's Children's Favourites for years after that.

Harry sadly died when Gary was only six but the talent obviously rubbed off on him.

Kipps - it's a rewritten version of the musical to take account of Gary's middle age (he is 54) - continues until Saturday, safety curtain permitting.
