WHEN Jon Watts' eldest daughter told him of her intentions to get married it meant he was about to become one of the proudest - and busiest - men in South Yorkshire.
Jon, you see is the Pastor at the Rock Christian Centre, Burngreave, the chosen venue for Sarah's wedding to Alistair Hogben.

And that meant that on the big day the father of the bride would be required to walk Sarah down the aisle to give her away, then turn around and marry her.

Thankfully it all went without a hitch.

Said Jon: "I was pretty busy and quite nervous beforehand but it was a great day."

The bride and her dad travelled to the centre in a Limo he had bought on eBay.

Then it was all systems go for Jon.

Around 280 guests and well-wishers packed in to see the wedding which marked a significant milestone in the development of Rock Christian Centre.

It was the first full legal wedding at the venue, which is based in a former engineering workshop.

And the service was very much a family affair.

Sarah's sister Bethany, 19, was chief bridesmaid and brother Tom, 15 acted as usher.

And how Sarah's mum Trisha and of course her proud dad enjoyed it.

Jon from Norfolk Park, said:

"It was a very relaxed and humorous occasion. When I got to the part of the service where I ask 'who gives this woman to this man?' it fell silent so I added - anyone?"

When the laughter died down Jon stood to the side and gave his daughter away.

But that wasn't the end of dad's duties. Following the wedding the couple held a reception at the Niagra Club in Wadsley Bridge - and of course it was dad's duty to make a speech. Alistair, 22, who works as a clerk with the Royal Bank of Scotland, and former Tapton School pupil Sarah who is studying Education at York University, spent a night in a hotel in the Hope Valley before jetting off to Florence for the honeymoon.
