DON'T blame the Germans for the omission of the Tinsley towers from Ordnance Survey maps.
It's been widely reported the towers didn't appear on maps until the 1960s to prevent them being targeted by German bombers.
But local historian Graham Hague, from Crookes, says that's not the case - and he has maps to prove it.
Graham's maps f
rom 1938 and 1948 clearly show the towers, ruling out the German theory.
But Graham explains: "The towers and power station were left off maps in the 1950s - to stop them being targeted by the communists during the Cold War."
