False alarm over grave reaction
FUNNY how a spooky environment can play tricks on the mind.

A colleague of The Diary's got a bit of a surprise walking to work through the General Cemetery in Sharrow the other morning.

It wasn't a ghost, but it did seem gruesome - pinned to a
tree was a notice advertising a family-friendly grave robbing day.

On closer inspection it was in fact advertising a gravestone rubbing event this Saturday from noon until 3pm. No booking is necessary, but if you want more information call Brian on 0114 268 3486. Wax and paper kits can be bought for £2.

Singers tune-up for 10th bash
IT'S the hottest date in town.

Sheffield University Singers' Society celebrate their 10th anniversary on Sunday at St John's Church, Ranmoor.

The old church will rock to the sound of well over 100 voices, as well as a children's choir and the BackBeat Percussion Quartet, one of Europe's finest percussion ensembles.
