It's in aid of PACT, the Parents Association for Children with Tumours) of which Steve is Patron.

"We don't script the first half of the show which is Gervase and I together telling funny stories," says Steve.

There's beauty and song from light opera singer Joanne Harris.

Tickets cost £15 on 0114 278 9789.

Ancient soles

CORDWAINING sounds like something Rambling Syd Rumpo would holler about on Round The Horn but it actually means making shoes.

Now the records of the Barnsley Cordwainers' Society, believed to be the oldest friendly society in Britain, dating from 1747, have gone on public view.

You can see them at Barnsley's archives and local studies library on Shambles Street.

Home comforts

TWO things to do in London this week and still feel at home. Drop by Bankside Gallery on Hopton Street (near Tate Modern) and admire Sheffield artist Les Bell's painting, Sundown at the Texas Embassy (until Saturday). Then call into Harrods and have a Yorkshire Pudding flavoured ice cream from Morelli's.
