WHEN author J P Bean found his Off the Shelf talk about his new book The Sheffield Chronicles had sold out at Weston Park Museum on Sunday, October 26, he offered to do another one right off.
He was a bit surprised the offer was turned down but the literary festival's Maria de Souza explains.

"By the time he had finished talking and signing books the museum would have been closed."

There are talks about another date but Mr Bean has arranged one himself at Barlborough Village Hall on Monday, November 3 at 7.30pm. Tickets on 01246 812 997 (Rachel Botham).

Cashing in on TV appearance

HOW To Be On TV - the Diary's famous feature. ITV game show The Colour of Money is looking for contestants. You don't have to answer general knowledge questions but do need to be able to hold your nerve.

E-mail gameshow@12yard.com for an application form. The closing date is November 17.

Flat club night

WITH the state of the economy, the Diary detects a touch of irony in an occasional club night Adam Clark organises at Bungalows and Bears on Division Street. It's called Build More Flats.
