PROMISING South Yorkshire boxer Scott Brookes has died as a result of a road accident.
Scott Brookes, aged 20, from Mexborough, died in Rotherham Hospital after suffering head injuries when he was hit by a taxi in Rowms Lane, Swinton.

The young boxer has a huge South Yorkshire following and is a close friend and stablemate of Sheffield boxer Clinton Woods.

Scott's older brother Stuart, 25, is also a well known boxer.

Scott's promotor Dennis Hobson described Scott as a "lovely lad" and said he was devastated by the news.

"Scott was the more boisterous of the two brothers, a lovely lad, who we rated as a genuine prospect," he said.

"All our thoughts are with his family," said Dennis.

If you would like to pay tribute to Scott post a your message of condolence below.

I didn't know this lad, however it is a tragedy when someone so young has had their life taken away. Whether it was an accident or not I would like the family to know my thoughts are with them as I write this short passage.

A cheeky happy chappie, with so much energy and enthusiasm for life. Definately gone to soon, you had so much more to give and yet achieved so much in just 20 years. The memories will last a lifetime and you'll never be forgotten. Keep smiling and enjoy yourself on the other side babe. My thoughts are with the whole family. Good night, god bless, sweet dreams Scott x x x
