FORMER Owls player Phil O'Donnell was described as "the perfect role model to any young professional" following his tragic death during a weekend match.
The Motherwell captain, who was just 35, suffered a seizure during a game on Saturday in which his team were playing Dundee United.

A Wednesday player for four years, O'Donnell was honoured with a minute's applause before the start of the Owls' clash with Hull at the KC Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Its always sad to here of the passing of a former Owl, particularly one so young and in such circumstances. I only saw him a handful of times but he was committed. Lets hope the club can organise a benefit match (against Celtic or Motherwell) for his family.

I believe this is an out and out tradgedy on the same level felt when the LATE GREAT Davie Cooper died in similar circumstances, as a lifelong rangers supporter I am gratified to see the mutual and unconditional support for Phils family from ALL QUARTERS at this sad time, i could not read his story without getting a very large lump in my throat, it is ironic that Phil had his spell at Celltic, AND Davie had his spell at rangers,a common TRAGIC link between the big two clubs, god rest phil , and very sincere condolences to Phils family, And the football Club

My heart goes out to Phil O'Donnell's family. I am a Blades fan but more than that I am a football fan and when things like this happen it certainly puts things into perspective. RIP Phil.
