Published Date: 15 September 2008
Michael Lee O'Nion, aged 15, was scaling a pylon in woods near Hollings Lane, Ravenfield, Rotherham, when tragedy struck.
He touched an overhead power line carrying 66,000 volts and suffered a massive electric shock - throwing him on to barbed wire placed below to stop people climbing.

The teenager was from the Sunnyside area and was a pupil at Wickersley Comprehensive.

The youngster, known to his friends as Mickey, climbed to the top of the pylon as a prank while his friends watched from the ground.

The young victim was taken from the scene by firefighters.

Flowers were left at the scene yesterday with one card reading: "Can't believe you're gone Mickey."

You can leave a tribute to Michael by adding your comment below.
