David Kelsey, aged 54, died after a fall while on a walking holiday in the Lake District.
Staff at a Doncaster prison are in shock after the tragic death of their colleague.

He was with two other Moorland officers when he fell 200ft to his death on July 16.

Today his grief-stricken widow, Lindsay, paid tribute to her husband and praised the support she and their three-year-old daughter Abigail have received from the Prison Service.

Mrs Kelsey said: "He loved fell walking and usually went once a month to the Lakes and every year The Walking Gang from Moorland would spend a week there.

"I've been told they were coming off a plateau and were going up a steep incline to get to the next plateau when he fell backwards and the weight of his rucksack pulled him over. It had just started raining and we think he must have lost his footing because of the slippery conditions."

Mr and Mrs Kelsey should have celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary next month.

Jo Thompson,

I would just like to offer my sincere sympathy to Lindsay, Dave's wife and their gorgeous daughter Abi. Dave was a lovely man, and a great person to work with, I am sure I speak for many people when I say he will be deeply missed at work. My thoughts are with all of Dave's family and friends.
