Brett Blake died in hospital after he was repeatedly stabbed on the dancefloor of Sheffield's Uniq nightclub.
The 23-year-old lived with girlfriend Natalia Gordon, 24, and their two-year-old daughter Taliyah in Longley. He was a car dealer.

Brett's heartbroken mum Jacqueline Nicholson, 44, of Wincobank, said: "Brett looked like a hard man but looks a deceptive, he had a real soft centre. He was devoted to his girlfriend and their baby.

"He absolutely idolised his little girl and spent more time with her than most young dads because Natalia was spending a lot of time studying for a Business Studies degree.

"Natalia is in pieces and my little granddaughter doesn't know what is happening. I've no idea what happened but Brett was such a lovely popular lad and the phone hasn't stopped ringing with calls from his friends."

My prayers and condolences go out to the Blake family...

What can I say other than a shameful act of cowardness led to the loss of a life, of a young father and a childhood friend. I never thought I would be sitting here writing this note, but the shock and dissapointment to find out that a life has been lost at the age of 23 should ring alarm bells to us all.

I hope Brett finds peace...

How absolutly tragic, I did not know this young man but feel desprately sorry for his family and his friends. I've only been into town three times for a nite out this year (works do's) and each time saw the aftermath of violence (a girl glassed, a middle-aged bloke knocked out by headbutt and a lad stabbed, all West St/Carver St)

First of all i would like to end my thoughts out to his fmily but especially to his little girl that has to grow up with out knowing her dad how sad,
I want to know why these boys dont realise that so many more people get hurt when something like this happens families and friend communities and took somethig so special to a little girl away and what for? pride. We need to teach our kids that life is special not something that we can throw away.
I hope justice is brough to the Blake family and that Brett will rest peacefuly.

To all of Bretts family I would sincerely like to pass on my condolences on the death of Brett. I knew Brett from a young age and over the years we became friends. Wherever I saw him we always had time to hail each other and that’s how I will always remember you. Brett has spent time at various members of my families’ homes and from the whole of us we truly wish he was still here. Brett sleep easy bruv, watch over the rest of the mans and be the guardian angel for your beautiful daughter. The watering hole isn’t the same. You know where I’m talking Brett.
We need to put an end to this madness too many of our friends and family are dying early from madness, lets stand up as a community and pull together before its us who are receiving condolence messages. Lets learn to gather for happy occasions and not solemn ones.
Nellio you right blood to right.

I can't believe a young man can die like this on a night out in Sheffield.

Whats happening to the youth of today, they were bought up in an era of crazy human rights laws and know no fear of the system.

Its time our Government reclaimed the streets starting with bringing back the death penalty for hideous crimes such as this one.

My heart goes out to the family of Brett Blake, another life wasted, another mother and father lose a son, another girlfriend loses a partner and another child loses a father, this can't continue.

Those who carry knives need to be bought to justice before its too late and even more innocent lives are lost.
