Ben Holmes, aged 15, collapsed unexpectedly at his home and was rushed to Sheffield Children's Hospital where he died a few days later.
His parents and younger brother are said to have been left devastated by the death of the Year 11 student from Mapplewell who was a pupil at Darton High School.

Headteacher Simon Hill said the whole school was in mourning.

"He didn't have an illness or any kind of condition - his death is a mystery," he told The Star.

"He was clearly a wonderful son and this has come out of the blue. His parents are being brave as are the rest of the family."

Ben was a keen guitarist who loved music.

One teacher said Ben had a 'buzz for life' and was hard working, considerate and happy.

A memorial service is to be held at the school and will involve Ben's classmates and close friends who will read and play the music he loved.

Leave your tribute to Ben by adding a comment below.

You and your brother are the best things that have ever happened to me. I am so shocked and stunned by your sudden departure Ben. I hope wherever you are you are happy and having fun like you always have done. I will make sure that Jacob and I carry on watching the blue and white wizards down at Hillsborough. Be lucky Ben, all my love forever Dad xxxxxxxxxx

Ben,

You lit up the school with your smile. Your mates are missing you so much. You'd probably be laughing if you could see them, mate, wondering what all the fuss was about ! It's been a hard week for us at Darton because we wish you were here - you'll live with us forever.

Mr D.

I met Ben in April, when he was down in Cleethorpes with his friend Danny. & we also met them again in meadowhall.
I was shocked when Danny had told me about Ben passing away, it still hasnt sank in. I have no idea how hard it must be for his friends and family.
Ben was a great guy, he was funny, kind, cute and thoughtfull. Him and Danny had my friend and I in stitches.
You'll never be forgotten Ben.
