News In Brief: Last weekend of bridge closures
The final phase of bracing work to strengthen the White Rose Way bridge over the railway as part of the Southern Gateway Improvement Scheme is due to take place this weekend.
The road between Lakeside Village and Ladybank roundabout will be closed from 9pm tomorrow until 8am on Sunday. Signposted diversions will be in operation during the works.
“Tremendous credit must go to the project team who have worked tirelessly to overcome the problems and delays created by the poor weather,” said Mayor Peter Davies. The new bridge should still be open for traffic in November.
Jubilee plans
tickhill Town Council has started planning community celebrations to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and is hoping to book a military band, open Tickhill Castle and light a beacon.
The Lions Club, Scouts and Guides, and both Estfeld and St Mary’s primary schools have been invited to help organise the event.
Sunday lunch
doncaster Campaign for Real Ale members are holding a Sunday lunch social at The Corner Pin in St Sepulchre Gate West this weekend.
