Royal visit to disrupt traffic

DETAILS of road closures around Barnsley for the forthcoming royal visit have been revealed.
Prince Charles is visiting the town on Tuesday where his itinerary includes meeting retired cricket umpire Dickie Bird by his statue at St Mary’s Church and attending University Campus Barnsley and Wentworth Castle Gardens.
Several temporary road closures and associated traffic restrictions will be put in place for the visit.
St Mary’s Gate will be closed from 7am, Church Lane will close at the junction of Sadler Gate from 10am and Churchfield will be closed at the Sadler Gate end from 10am.
Church Street will be closed from the roundabout to Sadler Gate from 10am, Old Mill Lane will close from the junction with Church Street (no left-turn) upward from 10am, there will be no right turn from Victoria Road from 10am, Huddersfield Road will be left-turn only from 10am, and Eastgate will close from 10am.
Barnsley Council said the restrictions are set to be removed by 2.30pm.
