The fight goes on to demand answers to our questions over school plans

This letter is just to thank all parents who are against the merger and to let them know this is not over!

A legal fight is now well underway and the Save Our Community Schools group will fight to keep both schools.

We at socs want a rebuild for Myers and a refurb for Wisewood as opposed to the Myers group who just seem to want Wisewood to shut so they can benefit.

As of now Wisewood has lost 12 teachers and very good ones because they don’t agree with the merger and have left.

Labour said it would cost the tax payer to keep both schools open andblamed Lib dems. What they did not say that the PFI money for the newschool will also be paid by the taxpayer (us). They seem to have forgot to tell you this!!

THE Lib Dems asked for a report from Labour/officers to keep both schools open. This did not happen. Why?

The teachers at Wisewood were told they cannot say anything against the merger for fear of losing there jobs. Why?

There are a lot of questions that Labour don’t want to answer over this merger.

The Save Our Community Schools group asked these at the consultion meeting and by email. But to no reply. Why?

As reported in The Star, and by parents, this was all a sham and still is!

Alf Meade, before he lost his seat said he ‘wanted two small schools’ but he voted for the merger anyway!

It did seem very odd then that he went with V Hardstaff (lost her seat also) outside schools in Stannington and started a petition for the merger!

And now it seems he will be running for election in Stannington (hoping to get votes from Myers parents, we think).

This fight from the socs group will carry on to the very end but let’s just ask the first consultion was for the NW area of Sheffield for falling rolls!

Instead we got a consultion just on Wisewood/Myers; very odd.

Also in the town hall meeting over the merger it was stated that Wisewood is full to 2009 but Myers has a 50percent drop in numbers; how odd again!

Labour need to re-think this all again and come back in two to three years with a better consultion/solution with the legal fight and loads more parents joining the SOCS group.

This is not over Labour

Mr D Clapham, Wisewood (SOCS group member)
