Stop the poison attacks on animals

YOUR two column-inches tucked away on page 27 (Nov 5) should have been a front page spread in every newspaper in the land.

I have warned readers more than once about poison attacks on wildlife near the grouse moors and have presented evidence to the police of poisons placed at badger setts on public access land.

Protected birds of prey, badgers, foxes, stoats and weasels are all victims of this type of persecution. I called a public meeting in Bradfield back in April to warn the public what was happening and was harrangued by 30 game keepers and their masters.

It was only a matter of time for us to hear such a horror story as the painful death of these three innocent dogs. I suppose we must be thankful that dogs and not children found the strychnine first. Perhaps when something far more serious happens the matter will take a higher priority in public awareness.

Meanwhile keep your eyes open, report anything suspicious and be careful out there.
