Rail firm has ruined area with big fence
RECENTLY, one Sunday, I made a train journey from Sheffield to Grindleford and soon after departure from Dore and Totley station the train passed underneath Twentywell Lane where I was greeted with absolute shock!
The Star, October 2008, reported on the cutback of trees and vegetation around the railway at Dore and Totley. Now, since the trees have gone, Netwotk Rail have decided to erect new silver coloured steel fencing all around the railway area. This once lovely looking area has become an absolute eyesore.
Why did Network Rail not erect green fencing in this area of outstanding local natural beauty? What do other travellers think? No consideration has been given to preserving the look of this wonderful area.
