Myers Grove an excellent school in need of rebuild

THANK you for the positive and fair coverage you gave about parents who support a new school on the Myers Grove site.

I have always been saddened by the poor coverage Myers Grove has had in the past. Along with many people in this area, I know it does not deserve it. I went there as a pupil and it was excellent. My eldest child is there now and is enjoying excellent academic success.

My youngest child looks forward to moving to Myers Grove and is planning to participate in the many extra activities the school offers, for example the ski trip and German exchange.

I am very proud of Myers Grove, its students, teachers, the integrated resource and the PFSA (Parents Teachers and Friends Association). It is a very special school.

However, as parents we recognise that the building has had its day and students deserve better facilities. We also recognise that we must meet the needs of all children in the North West communities and consider what it will be like for them in five, 10, 15 and 20 years. We are determined not to let the future generation children down.

We are sensitive about the children in our communities and perhaps for this reason we have not been as vocal as we needed to be.

It has been a concern to many of us, not to set our communities against each other, especially our children.

Unfortunately I think the Liberal Democrats have done that for us. And it will take a lot of hard work to restore this. But I believe we will sort things out. We are all passionate people in both communities and I am proud of that too.

I have never taken much interest in politics before but I am astonished by what I see, and cannot believe councillors are prepared to put politics before children. Yet here it is happening before our eyes.
