I want no part in BNP's Britishness
OF course everyone is entitled to change their views, and many move gently towards a more moderate political point of view as they get older. However, I do think there is a difference between the examples cited, and that of Andrew Brons. The real issues are those racial policies, and how the BNP divides communities, feeding the fears of those threatened by recession, demonising muslim communities, making scapegoats of immigrants and refugees, pursuing its ghastly fantasy of 'real' Britishness. I'm British for generations. But I want no part of the BNP's Britishness.
The BNP may claim to represent Yorkshire and Humberside. It doesn't represent me.

IN reply to John, a self-proclaimed BNP supporter from north Sheffield (June 29), the problem with Andrew Brons is not that he has changed his views, but that he hasn't. Beneath his respectable suit he remains a fascist at heart.
He and other BNP leaders refuse to acknowledge the realities of the Holocaust, during which the fascists that John's father fought against in World War II, killed six million Jews and other people because they believed there was a need to remove 'racial foreigners' from the population. This is precisely the desire of Brons and the BNP today – to 'remove' black and Asian people from Britain, including those born here.
As the Nazis showed in the 1930s, there is no way this could be done without the use of extreme violence which would represent the end of the British democratic tradition of which John is rightly proud.
This is why the vast majority of people in Sheffield oppose the BNP: they are not simply slightly to the right of the Tories or UKIP, they are fascists who represent a genuine physical threat to our society and our democracy.

JOHN (of north Sheffield) mentions Neil Kinnock and Jack Straw as former left wing Labour Party members who are now part of the establishment, well what about Adolf Hitler as someone who rose from political obscurity by admonishing the establishment and expounding the virtues of Socialism? Just one small difference – Hitler went on to solve the economic problems of Germany, help unify the people around a cause and end the 'Jewish problem' with the final solution.
BNP leader John Tyndall founded his party on the night of Hitler's anniversary. The BNP are a Nazi party, and as a member of the BNP how can you deny the Nazi tag?
The BNP are different to the National Socialists of the 1930s though, because the BNP offer no solution to solve our economic problems, they offer no unifying popular philosophy of change for the better. John was once in Militant Tendency so surely he is aware at least of the century of political change and social reform bought about by the Labour Party.
John may have turned against the left but he has gained the religious fervour of a convert to a cause and that cause is the BNP, formerly known as the National Front (aka the Nazi Party).
Furthermore, John, the country is not being ruled by Europe and we are not becoming an Islamic state, both these falsities are cultivated and encouraged by the BNP because they are aiming to divide people.
I am proud of being British and I identify myself as an English person. People like John would have me deny my heritage, and force feed me with lies that everything I feel proud about in my culture and heritage is wrong.
