Human side of politics that I didn't know existed

AS we all know the last few months have been 'open season' on MPs and anything else to do with politics.

However I have to take this opportunity to thank two people, MP Clive Betts and his assistant Steven Vincent.

Since February I have been experiencing problems with my main Job Centre office, this has caused me a great deal of stress, anxiety, frustration and, at times anger.

In all that time Mr Betts and Mr Vincent have been a constant source of help, understanding, encouragement and action.

Whether it has been arranging meetings with various managers regarding my problems, a letter of support arguing my case, ringing the Job Centre on my behalf when problems have (constantly) arisen, to even making me a drink and just sitting down to talk or ringing me to ask if I am OK, Mr Betts and Mr Vincent have helped me in more ways than I could have hoped and shown a human side to politics that I didn't know existed.

There are some good people in politics and I can personally vouch for two.

Clive, Steven – thanks for everything.

Neil Vaughan, Ravenscroft Court, Sheffield
