Euro MP active on a range of issues

PAUL License (Star, June 12) comments that: "We hardly ever heard anything from our MEPs and, now the election is over, can expect them to become silent once more".

A quick search of The Star's website archive indicates some 70-plus mentions of my name, reflecting the fact that I am active on a range of issues, regularly visit schools/projects/businesses in this area and take part in many local events.

The Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire area which I represent is very large with around five million people, but I do my best to keep in touch with local people and send regular press releases to the media.

Local papers like The Star play an important role in our democracy by reporting on the work of local politicians and I very much appreciate its coverage.

Anyone wanting to keep up-to-date directly can sign up to join the thousands of people already receiving a regular ebulletin via my website – www.lindamcavanmep.org.uk.

Linda McAvan MEP
