Campaigning against snares
THE case of fell runners being snared on the moors (Dec 29) is a good reason for readers to write to their MP and Caroline Spelman, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs: caroline@carolinespelman.com
We receive more than a dozen emails a year regarding cats or dogs snared in fox or rabbit snares and hundreds of thousands of badgers, deer and hares are killed or injured in legally set snares.
See www.antisnaring.org.uk for more information.
Until snares are outlawed great suffering will be caused, not least because they are set on private land and no official ever checks on what is going on. They indiscriminatly kill or injure because a natural reaction of a trapped animal is to struggle to escape.
