Handyman trial earns praise

A HANDYMAN service for elderly and vulnerable council housing tenants has completed more than 100 jobs in two months.

The trial scheme by Rotherham Borough Council and firm Morrison helps residents with small tasks or DIY projects which they are unable to do themselves for free.

In eight weeks, it has completed more than 100 jobs in the borough, from installing curtain poles to removing bulky items from lofts.

Coun Rose McNeely hailed the scheme, which runs until April but could become permanent, as ‘innovative’ in helping vulnerable people.
