No agreement on station plan
PLANS to revamp a former station on an old Peak District rail line which is now a popular trail for walkers, horse riders and cyclists have gone back to the drawing board.
The national park authority had agreed to lease Millers Dale Station, on the Monsal Trail, to the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust on condition a bid for up to £3 million of Lottery funding to revamp the site was successful.
But the trust was told by Lottery chiefs its bid was unlikely to succeed and no agreement could be reached between the trust and national park on a cheaper proposal.
Christopher Pennell, chair of the Peak District National Park Authority’s audit, resources and performance committee, said short-term plans to improve refreshment facilities, signage and notice boards at Millers Dale will go ahead.
