Campaign over road junction

A FORMER councillor is leading a campaign to make road safety improvements to the A638 Quality Bus Corridor that runs through Bessacarr in Doncaster.

Monty Cuthbert, who used to represent the Lib Dems in the Cantley and Bessacarr ward, is concerned about the high number of accidents at the junction of Bawtry Road and Ellers Road where cars have to cross the bus lane.

Mr Cuthbert has suggested that up to 10 car lengths of the bus lane should be used as a slip road to enable traffic coming out of Ellers Road to merge with Bawtry Road traffic.

He also wants southbound traffic to have right of way when turning right from Bawtry Road into side roads on the West Bessacarr estate.

Mr Cuthbert is seeking residents’ views on the issue before taking it further.
