SHAMED 70s pop star Gary Glitter has caused an international tug of war this week after he was released from a 27 month jail sentence in Vietnam.
But why are we so keen to let this depraved individual back into our country at all?

It's true he's served his sentence but he's exactly the kind of person we should be saying good riddance to.

I know the civil liberties lot will say he's a Bri
tish citizen and has got every right to reside in Britain but I reckon he lost every right when he started abusing children.

Reports will no doubt continue to surface about Glitter's whereabouts and future plans.

But wouldn't it have been a lot easier if the government had taken his passport off him after his first set of offences?

Back in 1997, Glitter was convicted of 54 counts of child pornography after PC World found 4,000 pornographic images of children on his computer.

If his passport had been withdrawn over a decade ago we wouldn't be faced with the nauseous drama that's unfolded this week in Thailand.
