A NEW friends group to protect and promote Rotherham parks is to be formed this year.
Friends of Wath Parks will move a step closer at the end of this month with the election of a committee and a constitution.

Anyone interested should attend the next meeting at 6pm on Monday January 28 at St James' Church Rooms, Church Street, Wath
.

Local councillor Alex Sangster said: "All members of the public who have an interest in these parks are encouraged to attend because the meeting will elect a committee

"By launching a Friends Group we want to give people a say in the management and development of the facilities provided.

"Such a group will be able to represent local feelings and needs and Rotherham Council will work with the group to develop an appropriate plan for a range of facilities reflecting those needs."

Anyone wanting further information should call Bob Cummins on 01709 822459 or Nicola Jones on 01709 822507.
