YOUNGSTERS from a youth project were invited to Doncaster’s latest supermarket rebrand to perform the opening ceremony.

The village’s former Netto has reopened as an Asda, after a £500,000 conversion project.

Members from youth project In Reality, based in Denaby Main, opened the newly converted store alongside local school pupils they provide support to.

They were invited to launch the store, on Hill Top Road, by manager Alan Bush. They were accompanied by Asda colleagues who have all transferred from Netto which previously occupied the site.

The youth team members and pupils were given a £50 Asda gift card to share as a thank you.

Store manager Mr Bush said: “We wanted to celebrate the opening of our new store with the local community which is why we wanted to involve a local youth project. It was lovely to hear about the work the youth team does, helping support children in the local community who suffer from low self-esteem.”

Kayla Fitzgerald, the team leader for the In Reality youth project, said: “It was a real honour to be asked to open the store.”
