A humorous bit of emotional blackmail - and billboard sized photos of a crying man - is how one Sheffield marketing company chose to promote bus travel in the Tees Valley.

Diva Creative, based in the Workstation on Paternoster Row, plastered pictures of weeping bus driver Brian Arnold on adverts, website and social media across the region after he won a competition to be the face of the campaign.

It came with the strapline: ‘every time you don’t use the bus you break a bus driver’s heart’.

Diva worked with Connect Tees Valley, Local Motion, Arriva and Stagecoach on the campaign, which was hailed a success after web searches rose 50 per cent.
