A young Rotherham engineer has been named one of Yorkshire and Humberside’s best apprentices in the regional final of a national awards scheme.

Yaser Rauf, aged 26, was highly commended in the Unilever Higher Apprentice of the Year category at the ceremony held in Leeds.

The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their eleventh year, celebrate the success of the country’s most exceptional apprentices and apprenticeship employers.

Yaser is undertaking an advanced manufacturing engineering apprenticeship with local metal project manufacturing specialists, MTL Group.

Judge Nick Wilson said: “The National Apprenticeship Awards are an excellent platform to recognise and celebrate the dedication shown by all our excellent apprenticeship employers and apprentices.

“The quality of entries we have had for the Yorkshire and Humberside awards this year has been exceptional.”
