IT’s getting chilly – but Yorkshire Water is urging people to wrap their pipes up warm.
Last year was the coldest winter on record and thousands of people were left with frozen pipes and no water.
Leanda Trethewey from Yorkshire Water said: “Although it is not our responsibility to maintain or repair issues on private pipes, we tried to help as many as possible.
“This year, we want to help people get prepared by offering them lots of advice and offers to help protect their homes in advance of winter.”
Customers are advised to protect all exposed pipework, cisterns, tanks, taps and water meters in unheated areas with waterproof foam lagging or insulation, know where the stop tap is located at the property in case it needs to be turned off in an emergency, keep a plumber’s number handy and keep homes warm.
