William Hague’s dad Nigel was walking on air after raising more than £50,000 following a wing walk across the Channel sponsored by Rotherham company S3 ID Ltd.

The 84-year old was strapped to a 1940’s biplane on June 6 to coincide with D Day events and raised money for the Lost Chord Charity, based in Rotherham.

He wore an S3 ID orange thermal boiler suit, which is normally used by the company for work in Kazakhstan oilfields where temperatures regularly fall below -40ºC.

Nigel said: “A big thank you to S3 ID for kindly sponsoring me and supplying the thermal suit – the distinctive colour meant they certainly saw me arriving.”
