This is the closest look yet at the planned £300 million extension of Meadowhall.
The shopping centre has released a video 'fly through' of the leisure hall, for which a planning application was submitted last week.
The futuristic structure will include new shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, a modern cinema to replace the existing one at Meadowhall, and space for more leisure activities such as bowling.
Sheffield Chamber of Commerce executive director Richard Wright last week said the extension would reinvigorate’ Meadowhall and act as a catalyst’ for further investment.
“As consumers, retailers and Sheffield evolves, so too must Meadowhall, ” he said. “The leisure hall, however, goes much further.
“It will retain spend in the Sheffield City Region by ensuring residents do not need to travel out of the area to fulfil their shopping and leisure needs.
“The leisure hall will be a jewel in the Sheffield City Region’s crown, set amongst other equally important investments in this great city.”
The extension follows a £60 million refurbishment of the shopping centre, which is set to finish this year.
