Two Sheffield companies are in Britain’s top 100 firms with fastest-growing profits.
Sheffield-based William Cook Cast Products and Abbey Forged Products, of Oughtibridge, were among six companies headquartered in Yorkshire in The Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100.
It showed William Cook has seen profit grow 50.35 per cent over three years to £14.9m to March last year. Oil and gas specialist, Abbey saw profits rise 46.26 per cent in the same period to £10.58m.
Other Yorkshire companies in the table were Adler and Allan oil services provider of Harrogate, Great Rail Journeys, of York, Acorn Stairlifts of Steeton, West Yorkshire, and lighting firm Status International, of Cleckheaton.
The 100 companies on this year’s league table grew their profits over the last three years by an average of 66 per cent a year to combined profits of £1.6bn in their latest available accounts.
Together they employed 93,800 staff, having added 31,200 employees to their workforce during this time, some as a result of acquisitions.
