Sheffield firms Nabarro and DLA Piper are among the three top-rated practices dealing with health and safety issues in Yorkshire.

Nabarro’s team, which includes highly-rated Lukas Rootman and Esme Saynor is noted for defending clients facing allegations of false advertising and breaches of food safety regulations, brought by the Health and Safety Executive and local authorities, in addition to cases involving work-related fatalities.

Clients include UK Coal and German-owned bulk and packaged chemicals specialist Brenntag.

Teresa Hitchcock heads the team at DLA Piper, which spans offices in Sheffield and Leeds and includes associate Stuart Ponting, who deals with death in custody inquests.

Clients include railway infrastructure contractor VolkerRail, which has operations in Doncaster, and AIRMIC Academy, part of the UK-based association for people with responsibility for insurance and risk management.

Kennedys’ second-ranked Sheffield-based health and safety practice has been strengthened by the addition of Kamal Chauhan, from Nabarro, and Anna Naylor from DLA Piper.

Its core business involves acting for private and public sector clients who include Otis Elevator Company and UK Coal, in relation to accident investigations carried out by the police and the HSE.
