AESSEAL has added a 12th Queen’s Award to its tally, confirming its place as holder of the most Queen’s Awards in Yorkshire.

The Rotherham group was presented with its latest Award – for International Trade – after global sales hit £104 million, making AESSEAL the eighth largest manufacturing business in the Sheffield City Region.

With more than 1,260 staff and profits of £7.5 million, the Bradmarsh Business Park company is also the third largest and second most profitable manufacturing employer in the region, according to the Star Business/Sheffield University Management School Top 50 Manufacturers ranking, published earlier this week.

In 32 years AESSEAL has grown from being a five employee business, operating out of an ageing shop by an Attercliffe sauna, into the fourth largest mechanical seal manufacturer in the world.

When the company was founded, total sales were £400,000. Nine years later, when the company won its first Queen’s Award, sales had risen to £2.1 million and last year they passed the £100 million mark, with three quarters of the firm’s output being exported to more than 100 countries.
