Lawyers from DLA Piper’s Sheffield office are celebrating the part they played in the firm being European Mid-Market Law Firm of the Year for the third year running.
The global group secured the accolade at the Financial Times and Mergermarket European M&A awards.
Firms were judged on the volume and value of the deals they were involved in, together with their strategic nature, complexity, financial requirements and novel nature.
DLA Piper says its Sheffield practice maintained a strong financial performance throughout last year, undertaking more than 30 deals worth more than £900 million, for a local, national and international clients.
Richard May, head of the corporate department at DLA Piper in Sheffield, said: “Our Sheffield corporate team continues to perform strongly and has contributed significantly to DLA Piper’s UK deal figures during 2012.
“Having acted on a number of high-profile deals, we work closely with interesting, actively acquisitive clients both in the region and abroad and we’re looking forward to 2013 with some optimism.”
Major deals involving local companies included WANdisco’s AIM listing, Simcyp’s acquisition by Certara, a multi-jurisdiction deal for Outokumpu and EDS Group Holdings’ acquisition by Silverdell.
The Sheffield office was also involved in US group Hain Celestial’s acquisition of Premier Foods’ sweet spreads and jellies portfolio, which included the Hartley’s and Sun-Pat brands.
