Summer has finally arrived, the nights are getting longer, the sun is shining and the UK economy is showing the first signs of recovery.
To mark the arrival of summer and better times, The Star has launched a new campaign to try to boost business across South Yorkshire.
Our Summer of Love campaign is encouraging Star readers to help the South Yorkshire economy by spending their money locally, visiting local tourist attractions and eating out at local pubs, bars and restaurants.
We also want our readers to support the diverse range of independent shops which can be found right across the county.
We want to help local businesses back on their feet and are hoping to do so by helping them to find new customers.
Already we have launched our Shop Local initiative, which encourages Star readers to spend their cash on their local high street and support local entrepreneurs by putting their money back into the local community.
On our regular community pages we have started to feature a local business – and your company could be highlighted too.
Marcus Schofield, commercial development manager at Sheffield Newspapers, said: “The idea of Shop Local is to encourage people to shop within their local community and give their high street a boost by shopping close to home. We are also encouraging businesses to use The Star and our website to promote their services.
“Our paper has been redesigned, offering a fresh, quality platform for advertisers to promote their businesses and our website is reaching more people than ever before.
Marcus added: “If South Yorkshire thrives everybody else thrives too. Jobs are created and as a result people have more money to spend.
“The Summer of Love campaign is about harnessing the feel good factor of summer and helping South Yorkshire’s economy get back on its feet.”
