Stylists at Doncaster’s High Street salon SAKS are primping and preening right now...

The salon, which opened just two years ago, beat 500 salons nationwide to scoop the prestigious L’Oréal Professionnel Men’s Image Award.

The team took to the stage in front of a star studded audience of over 1,000, including fashionista Alexa Chung, to be presented with their trophy by TV presenter George Lamb.

The hairdressing industry’s longest running awards, dedicated to celebrating creative talent and ‘Hair Inspired by Fashion’, took place in London earlier this month.

The team had spent the last three months going through a series of tests of their skill and flair to reach the final of the famous L’Oréal Colour Trophy and face a judging panel of renowned hairdressers, including Jo Hansford MBE and Andrew Barton.

“We didn’t expect to win. We were the only salon from Doncaster to make it through to the final. We can’t stop sharing the amazing news with clients and hope to carry on with our creative work in the future,” said Paul Calladine, salon owner.

The elated team win A Year of Dreams, a calendar of opportunities designed to help to propel both their creative skills and salon business - which includes a Vogue UK fashion shoot, trips abroad and training opportunities.

SAKS will be celebrating their award with a string of free services and online prizes for customers and hope to visit Doncaster Royal Infirmary to style patients in need of TLC.

Help raise £10,000 for cancer support; it’s a beautiful idea...

Look Good Feel Better, a national charity run by the beauty industry which helps women and young people combat the visible side-effects of their cancer treatment, has produced an exclusive hot pink ‘kiss’ pin.

High street favourite The Perfume Shop will be selling 10,000 of the pins for a donation of £1 this month.

The Sheffield branch of the charity, which runs free skincare and make-up workshops at Western Park Hospital for women undergoing cancer treatment, are urging people to snap them up at The Perfume Shop’s stores in Fargate and Meadowhall.
