International plant dismantling and decommissioning expert EDS has won a top award for work on clearing Pfizer’s UK Global Manufacturing Site in Kent.
EDS, which is based at Loxley, in Sheffield, faced a number of challenges clearing the site, which produced active pharmaceutical ingredients for human and animal medicines, including one substance which would have killed all marine life within 10 miles if an amount the size of a pin head had got into local water courses.
Darren Palin, managing director of EDS, said: “Specialist, large scale, highly complex projects such as that undertaken for Pfizer in Kent are what EDS has built its reputation on and it is fantastic to be recognised at this level.
“The team at EDS is incredibly proud of its work undertaking entire project delivery for major blue-chip companies across the globe to areas such as North America, the Far East and Europe and this accolade is in recognition of all our project delivery teams who work tirelessly to ensure the highest levels of client satisfaction are met.”
EDS won the Site Preparation and Services Award at the annual Construction News Specialists Awards.
